Doug and Julaine Bierl are co-founders of Reclaiming Wholeness and your Marriage Navigators. A Marriage Navigator is an experienced married couple who helps other married (and engaged) couples to navigate the ups and downs of marriage. When working with individuals and couples, the Bierls employ various approaches, including marriage coaching, marriage mentoring, experientials to uncover emotional wounds, core freedom sessions (to address generational patterns), and relationship assessments.
In December 1997, Doug and Julaine blended a family of six children who were between the ages of 5 and 16 at the time. It is the second marriage for both of them, so they experienced firsthand the joys and challenges of blending two families and raising their children in that context. They’ve seen the negative impact of an unhealthy marriage, as well as the benefits of a healthy marriage, on their children, family, friends, health, and jobs. Like all married couples, they have their ups and downs, but they’ve learned ways to have fewer downs and to keep from staying down as long. Out of their experience comes a passion for marriages, and a desire to do all they can to help marriages succeed.
Julaine is a retired teacher and Doug is a retired healthcare marketer. While their careers have nothing to do with their role as Marriage Navigators, they have learned many things about relationships and acquired tools along their marriage journey that they share with couples. Both of them are trained caregivers for Formational Prayer (inner-healing prayer), certified marriage mentors, and are certified to guide couples through SYMBIS and Prepare/Enrich relationship assessments. The Bierls are also licensed in Ohio to perform marriage ceremonies, as well as recommitment and vow renewals. Doug is certified to facilitate various marriage and relationship education programs, and is a certified professional coach as well. All this experience (and more) is used as Doug and Julaine help couples build, strengthen, or restore the health of their marriage.
