I recently finished reading the book, Real Marriage: Seeing the Soul, by Dr. Tammy Smith. As a continuation from the last post, to achieve the full benefit and freedom, forgiveness is more than just saying you’re sorry or hearing the other person say it. If you are asking for forgiveness, the other person’s response doesn’t matter. You can’t control what they do, and they may not be ready to forgive. Your responsibility is to ask with a genuine heart. (Click on the title to read more.)

Right after Jesus taught the disciples to pray (the Lord’s prayer), he said: For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Matthew 6:14-15) So, if we don’t forgive others, God will not forgive us.
